Portraits

I'm back at last...
The other day my friend Janet asked me to take pictures for her. It was fun!! (She left yesterday for the 1rst term (3 wks.) at CBS, so pray for her if you think about it.)
So yea I thought I'd share a few with you all......

Kind words smooth all the paths of life
And smiles make burdens light,
And uncomplaining friends can make
A daytime out of night.

What's up?

Hey! Yes it's been a long time since I last updated. So I thought I would at least let ya know what has kept me from blogging.

Well for one thing Uncle Erwin is getting married to Mathilda Friesen Nov. 30. So that has kept me and my Mom busy with sewing 5 dresses! We started beginning of Nov. and YEA I can say we are actually done except for a few small details. And besides the sewing Erwin & Mathilda asked my parents to help them with planning and preparing for the wedding. Since both of their parents are too old to plan weddings. So yea my help is needed if not in planning than in keeping the house in order. Though to tell ya the truth it's not very much in order especially the tables are quite cluttered with---??? well mostly books. Yea you cold guess by stepping into our house that about every member of the family is a book worm...!!! So yea tomorrow and the coming week I'm going to work on getting our house in order again.
So yea that's the bee buzzing at our household...though there have been other things jumping in between that added to it.

Yea I hope to do better in updating next month, though I can't promise cause I sure don't know what Dec. will be like this year. Right now I can't see why it would be too busy.....

Oh and by the way even the camera has been neglected lately...
but I found a few pics in my folder that I thought I'd share with you though they're not very attractive. And the top one was takin from a magazine or something and the other one quite a while ago at our neighbors.

Living on an Island.....

.....for over a week already. Strange but it's true!! And we have the privilege to have all our friends with us...well actually the whole Spanish Lookout. And yes like all other Islands the only way to get off the Island or on it is by boat or plane. And most Islands would probably have salt water around them but we have "Chocolate Milk (Water) ".
Yea it's the biggest flood I remember of experiencing. And it is actually kind a exciting. Since last week Fri. Oct. 19th we have had to get off Spanish Lookout by boat or plane mostly. But we are all safe and sound and none of our houses is flooded. Though some products have been getting scarce since the transportation can only be by boat.

Babies!!

Cute little feet and toes!!

And their sweet smiles!!

Ralph & Martha's little girl. She's a darling and is growing fast!! And I am still excited about being her Aunty!! Martha is coming over quite often now that Grandparents are in Mexico and I'm also trying to be her maid often on (doing the laundry for her).

Alexa is Henry & Tina's (Uncle & Aunt) little daughter. She too is a cute darling! So yea if we have family gatherings I've got 2 cute girly's to play with. Though I have to see to that I at least get one of them cause I got sisters and a Mom who grab for the little bundles too!!!

Unfolding The Rose

It is only a tiny rose bud,
A flower of God's design,
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.

The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I,
The flower God opens so sweetly,
In my hands would fade and die.

If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?

So I'll trust Him for His leading
Each moment of every day
And I'll look to Him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.

For the pathway that lies before me
My heavenly Father knows
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments
Just as He unfolds the rose.
-Anonymous

As you see I love roses and taking pictures of them!! [smile] Let me know which is your favorite......

DEAF CAMP!!

A Guide to Life!!
And List to Live by (at Deaf Camp).....

The most powerful channel of communication..... PRAYER!
Thanks for praying.

The most important thing in life..... THE POWER OF GOD!
We have seen the power of God at Deaf Camp.

Rosa with baby Lester, Me, Justin, and Deilia

The most destructive habit......... WORRY!
The greatest problem to overcome........ FEAR!

I had a good group and not much problems. Of course I had some small problems here and there. But they weren't as big as my fears and worries had been.

The greatest "shot in the arm".......... ENCOURAGEMENT!
Lane and Vernee and their deaf son Laramie came all the way from America to teach here at deaf camp. And they also brought all the teaching material! I was Vernee's assistant teacher......

The world's most incredible computer....... THE BRAIN!
It was interesting to see how many ideas the deaf had at crafts time which I would have never thought of.

The most beautiful attire....... A SMILE!

The most effective sleeping pill........ PEACE OF MIND!

The greatest asset........ FAITH! (or TRUST)
A 3 month old baby, which looked more like 3 weeks old.

The most prized possession...... INTEGRITY!

The worst thing to be without........... HOPE!

The greatest attitude........ GRATITUDE!

Teachers and Counselors

The greatest natural resource........ YOUTH!

All deaf----
Saying "Good Bye"
The most powerful force in life....... LOVE!

In one of my posts before I wrote about a flood that we had. Well yes a bridge was washed out on the way to Punta Gorda. And they built a detour bridge by putting in a lot of culverts .
Now this week we had rain again though not quite as much as when the flood was. But it was enough rain to get this river to rise again. And some of the culverts washed out. So now the DETOUR is closed too!
But there's still a way (another detour) . People are being brought over the river by boat. And that was the only way to get some of the deaf back home. Someone on the other side brought the deaf to their homes.

The most satisfying work.......... HELPING OTHERS!

The greatest joy................ GIVING!

The greatest loss.............. The loss of SELF RESPECT!
By not taking time to nap

The ugliest personality trait............ SELFISHNESS!

The most crippling disease.......... EXCUSES!

The most dangerous pariah......... GOSSIP!

The most power-filled words........... I CAN! (or YOU CAN)
One of my girls that I was responsible for did not want to pray herself in the evening when we had devotions. She had the excuse she couldn't, so a few times I helped her. But Fri. eve. the last eve. I told her " You can I know you can, you're smart!" And guess what she prayed a few words all by herself!!!

The most worthless emotion........... SELF-PITY!

The future is as bright as the promises of God!

Deaf Camp is just around the corner!

Yes, tomorrow I'll be leaving!! Youth will be all over the country of Belize to get the deaf (those that verified). I'll be leaving at 6 in the morning and heading towards Mango Creek southern area in Belize. I'm excited, scarred and ???? On my last post I didn't know if I'd be counselor for children or adults. And I know that already.... I'll be counselor for adults! Now that I know, I start to look forward to being a counselor for adults. Though it seems like a big responsibility. Thanks for praying for me and keep praying through the coming week. The biggest is still before me.....
Till later-----

Prayer Request

~ Let your light shine/ Your hands carry the gospel of Christ ~

Deaf Camp is coming up!!
It's being planned for June 23 - 28. I am planning to help as a counselor. A counselor's responsibility is to watch and take care for 3-8 deaf children/adults 24 hrs around the clock. Though there'll be classes for the deaf so the times that classes are the teachers will keep the deaf occupied. But we counselors need to know where our deaf are. I would love to be a counselor for children but don't know if I'll have an option. It feels like a big responsibility, but with God's help I'm sure it'll be possible. Please pray with us as we prepare for deaf camp. And for the deaf especially. That we would be able share the gospel with them.

"Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." -Jeremiah 33:3
